Wounded Spirits—A Biblical Approach to Dealing with the Effects of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

This study is for those affected by Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). While this disorder has only been getting attention recently, it is not a new disease. Its causes, severe trauma and stress, date back to the beginnings of man.

Through this book
you will find how the Lord provides answers in His Word for the symptoms of PTSD. This book is basically a foundation, and most people will benefit from using this material in small-group sessions at a local church or in a home.

"This book is a practical treatise of a very real challenging problem for many of our service men and women, who have put their lives on the line to defend the liberties and lives of our great country. The book gives very directly a personal and Biblical perspective in the examination of the condition of PTSD. The Biblical studies and explanations of how PTSD can be faced and resolved are commendable and useful for anyone who will take the time to prayerfully study and apply the contents of each chapter.

I appreciate the dedication and commitment of Dr. Carragher in this great endeavor to minister directly to hurting service men and women, who are in need of a compassionate approach to a very real problem confronting their lives and well-being. I understand that several have already been helped through studying the Biblical solutions presented. I believe that this is a great tool that can be used to bring stability and direction to many who have been affected by the devastating results of conflicts and loss of lives in defending our country. Thank you for providing this great tool that can be used for much good in many lives."—Dr. Ray Fulayter, Director, Hampton Roads Biblical Counseling and Seminary Professor

God Sent

I am a veteran who has served in Iraq and Afghanistan. I struggled with PTSD for many years. I had many problems as well as thoughts of suicide. I tried to deal with all this myself with no success. Through scripture, this book has shown me that God has control of my life and my PTSD. If you know any veterans or anyone who suffers from PTSD they must have this book. I could only wish that the military would issue this book for all those who have served or is serving in the military. I recommend this book to all people especially anyone who is in a spiritual leadership role to know how to help those who suffer from PTSD.
Help for a wounded warrior

I can only wonder how my son's life would have been better if this book had been available when he returned from a years deployment in Iraq during the opening phases of Desert Storm. I can say it has had a tremendous impact on him, his family and those of us around him since we have all read the book. I strongly encourage family members of our military, police, fire fighters, EMTs and any who face dramatic situations on an almost daily basis to read this book. Pastors who have these people sitting in their churches need to read this book as well so they can minister effectively to those who have given so much of themselves to make our lives better. I was stationed at Walter Reed Army Medical Center for 12 years and saw first hand the devastating effects of PTSD, to include the false guilt/shame soldiers had about circumstances beyond their control. Thank you Bro. Doug for this tremendous book.
Unseen wounds opened by the shock of war...
Kelly Snyder (Belmont, WV) 5/21/2014 8:19 AM
If you have active duty, guard or reserve, or veterans of any war including the past 13 years, you need to have this resource on hand. We hear the phrase PTSD so often that we become immune to it. We should not repeat the mistakes of past wars and conflicts by waiting for years and years to treat issues caused by the war. PTS is not a disorder, it is a wound opened by the shock of war. The effects of this war will see casualties for decades to come and we need to address it now. Anyone who knows me well, knows how passionate I am about the treatment of veterans and how much I love our service men and women. This book is good for all types of PTS, even the shock of things occurring outside of the military; car accidents, spousal abuse, child abuse, survivors of near death experiences in things such as weather disasters and other events can effect people for years. This book is for you. Pastors, chaplains, veterans health care professionals, parents, teachers, siblings and spouses will be blessed by the strong biblical approach to helping our wounded. Thanks Bro. Doug for taking a hard subject and providing help to all those who take the time to read and use this book
